25 Weeks, 1 Day and a Brand New Niece!

We are so happy to introduce our new niece, Sage Alexandra Devereaux, born 7 weeks early on February 19 at 3:05pm - 4 lbs, 7 oz and 17 inches long. Sweet Sage has a heart condition called PAC and had to be taken via c-section 7 weeks early, but she is strong little one and is doing fine! She is breastfeeding now and never had to be hooked up to a ventilator, though she is staying in the NICU in Jackson, MS for a few more weeks until she gets 5-7 days under her belt with no apnea issues. We are praying for this sweet baby!

We were very lucky to be able to go see her on her birthday. Matt had been sick and wasn't allowed in the NICU, but I got to go in and see her face to face:) Jen Jen and Poppy (Matt's parents) were also in Jackson, along with Aunt Meg. We couldn't hold her at that time, but just seeing her sweet little face and holding her hand was wonderful! We've been updated that Sage can now be held and I am sure her mommy Heather is so thankful for that! I know our sweet little girl can't wait to meet her big cousin Sage. They will be best friends at only 4 months apart!

We are doing well in Mandeville, though we are tired of this cold, rainy weather!! We reached 25 weeks yesterday (yippee!) and at our latest doctor's appointment everything went fine! Her heartbeat was in the low 140s and our doctor said we were right on track even though my belly is a bit big for 6 months. She said because I'm so petite (I'll say petite rather than short) the baby has no where to go except straight out, so I've got a sizable soccer ball belly right now! Our next appointment marks the final monthly appointment and at that time we begin going every 2 weeks. The countdown begins next month!!

Also, I now understand the swelling ankles...or rather, the fankles, as Matt likes to call them. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, my legs look pretty rad. I mean, you can't see a hint of an ankle bone anywhere. I can't even point my feet all the way when I'm really swollen! I've been so busy with work that I've missed my exercise regimen for 2 weeks in a row so that may have something to do with it. I'm looking forward to going back to my Pilates classes this week! This is a pic of the belly at 24 weeks.

We are still working on names but I just can't commit. We have a few family names picked out but I just can't seem to nail down the right one. Of all the times to have commitment issues, right?! We know we'll find the perfect name for her in due time.

Until next time!

  2. Thanks so much, Katie...and talk about troopers! You three are like battle warriors! I would be crying on the floor in the fetal position if I were in your shoes! I am praying for you and that Caroline and Worth keep cooking until it's time for them to be taken out of the oven:) Relax and read some books! Everyone is telling me to do that because when she comes I won't have time to even look at books!

  3. You know what is crazy...even though your belly is ginormous, your face looks the exact same! I don't think you have gained a pound of that cheek weight all the pregger ladies I've know tend to sport rather promptly. Cheers to skinny cheeks for you! I'm super d-duper excited for the little bugger to get here!!!

P.S. 'fankles'...good one Matt. I laughed out loud by myself on that one. :)

    Love yall! CB
